- Bindi 2016 "Block 5" Pinot Noir
Bindi 2016 "Block 5" Pinot Noir
Region: Macedon Ranges Victoria
FIVE STARS
One of the icons of Macedon. The Chardonnay is top-shelf, the Pinot Noir as remarkable (albeit in a very different idiom) as Bass Phillip, Giaconda or any of the other tiny-production, icon wines. The addition of Heathcote-sourced shiraz under the Pyrette label confirms Bindi as one of the greatest small producers in Australia. JAMES HALLIDAY
Powerful yet very pretty aromas of dark cherry, minerals, spice, earth and a hint of liquorice. The wine is powerful and lengthy on the palate, with incredible detail and finesse to the surprisingly dense and voluminous dark berry fruits. Very refined yet incredibly persistent tannins frame the fruit, and there's a lovely refreshing, lifting touch of acidity giving the wine a sense of brightness and purity. Dense yet incredibly elegant on the long finish, all this wine needs is a few years to build further complexity and texture.
