Penfolds 2013 Bin 389 Shiraz/Cabernet - Multi Regional SA
Bin 389 is often referred to as ‘Baby Grange’, in part because components of the wine are matured in the same barrels that held the previous vintage of Grange. First made in 1960, by the legendary Max Schubert, this was the wine that helped to forge Penfolds solid reputation with red wine drinkers combining the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon with the richness of Shiraz. Bin 389 also exemplifies the judicious balance of fruit and oak.

AROMA Vibrant aromas of mulberry, boysenberry and blueberry fruits lead into dark chocolate and cedar spice with savoury notes of sage and black olive.

OAK DETAIL 18-months maturation in a combination of new (42%) and seasoned French oak barriques.

97 pts: “Do Cabernet Sauvignon and Margaret River go together? Well, it’s the fourth time that the combination has been featured in our Best In Show selection – so yes, they do. Three of those laureates, intriguingly, have come from the high-quality, low-quantity 2020 vintage – and if this wine is anything to go by, it’s a vintage which is taking its time to reach even early maturity. This wine remains an opaque black-red in colour, with admirably pure and restrained aromas of shapely blackcurrant lent freshening complexity by bush and scrub notes – a single sniff is transporting. The wine is concentrated and refined on the palate. Not merely fruity, though there is plenty of that ‘noble’ blackcurrant to enjoy, but the fruit is lent shade and nuance by the biotope allusions evident on the nose. The tannins and acids are measured and proportionate; the ripeness well-judged; and the wine moves through the mouth with easy, drinkable grace.” Judges Comments, Decanter World Wine Award 2024.

LEEUWIN ESTATE 2020 ART SERIES CHARDONNAY - Margaret River WA
Arguably Australia's greatest Chardonnay, Leeuwin Estate consistently hit the high notes year in year out.
Energetic and well poised, an array of fresh lime and nashi pear is laced throughout. The palate is ethereal, mineral and defined with a presence of natural acidity. There is an enticing element of saline, wet stone and phyllitic characteristic that weaves within. The shape and frame on the palate is present and focussed with effortless length.

- Fermented in small open fermenters using traditional techniques. Matured in 50% new French oak barrels for 24 months.

DELATITE HIGH 2018 DONALD'S BLOCK CABERNET - Goulburn Valley

- The fruit was fermented in small open topped fermenters and was hand plunged three times a day it was then left to soak on its skins for ten days to maximise its tannic profile.
- The wine spends 18 months in barrel. 80% of those barrels are new with 60% French and 40% American oak being used.
Atze's Corner 2021 Eddies Old Vine Shiraz - Barossa Valley SA
2021 vintage rates as one of the best in recent years; an ideal growing season gave winemakers just the grapes they wanted. Careful winemaking has done justice to those grapes producing a sumptuous bottle of wine. Opaque ruby colour, with a coal tar and sweet spice aroma. The palate is silkily smooth and seriously full-bodied; the fruit concentrated and bright. Classic Shiraz fruits of spicy dark damson and blueberries are layered against fine, integrated oak. At this stage I’d really prefer to keep it in the cellar for another five years to let that fruit mature and develop into something approaching its full complexity. It will keep for fifteen or twenty years such is its finesse and balance. A very special bottle of Barossa wine.
WHISTLING EAGLE 2018 "EAGLES BLOOD" SHIRAZ - Heathcote Vic
The Eagles Blood Shiraz is the ultimate expression from ancient Cambrian Earth to wine that displays spectacular colour, depth of flavour and balance. Made with a minimal approach using traditional methods and barreled in French and American Oak, it is a fine reflection of the terrior and the careful balance between viticulture and the environment.
Carefully matured in our own cellar, this rare back vintage from the brilliant 2010 vintage is a treat for those after that special bottle.
750ML 14% alc/vol.
CASTAGNA 2019 GENESIS SYRAH - Beechworth Vic
"If I were trying to make shiraz this is what i would be aiming for. It's ethereal, exotically spicy and meaty bouquet of dark cherries, cassis and sweet oak revels nuances of fennel and cloves, cinnamon and black pepper."
Jeremy Oliver, OnWine
"A bomb. An absolute beauty. A locomotice of intoxicating, violet-drenched scent, a meatiness and a pepperiness but not overtly so, the purest of pure kirsch and black berries and smoked pig and cedar, and then stinging, stunning, penetrating length. No alcohol heat. Not huge, but ripe. Exquisite oak handling. Yes."

Greenock Creek 2018 Seven Acre Shiraz - Barossa Valley
Established in 1978, Greenock Creek is a tiny 'boutique' Barossa winery with a production level of only 2500 cases per year, owned by Michael and Annabel Waugh. Greenock Creek's old dryland, low-yielding vineyards produce wines of unusual depth of flavour and character. It is a low-profile winery of 'cult-status' which commands international respect.
Patrick of Coonawarra 2013 Grand Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
The best fruit from only the best vintages makes the grade for this iconic wine. Single vineyard parcels from the 60 year old Home Block Vineyard are selected and then aged in 100% new French oak for up to 3 years. Then cellared for a minimum of 6 years before release. Bold, complex notes of dark chocolate and concentrated fruit lead to a wonderfully rich, structured palate with impeccable length. A wine that showcases the true essence of aged Coonawarra Cabernet and will reward any wine lover or true connoisseur.
Kay Brothers 2017 Block 6 Shiraz - McLaren Vale SA
These enduring signature vines were planted by Bert and Fred Kay in 1892. The 2017 vintage marks the 125th anniversary of the vineyard’s establishment and signifies a remarkably important date for the Kay family as ‘Block 6’ Shiraz has positioned itself as one of the icon Shiraz of Australia.
Long held in high esteem as one of McLaren Vale’s finest Shiraz plantings, ‘Block 6’ Shiraz continues the tradition at Kay Brothers of producing full bodied red wines that have the grace and pedigree to age for decades. Handpicked and fermented in the original open top fermenters, ‘Block 6’ Shiraz is a wine of great strength, deep complexity and amazing vibrancy.
Hobbs 2016 "Gregor" Shiraz - Barossa Valley SA - copy
The fruit for our Gregor is first handpicked then placed onto racks and semi-dried in the timehonoured ‘Appassimento’ method. This method concentrates the sugars and flavours of the fruit, creating a full bodied, well balanced Shiraz. Named in honour of a very fond memory from early in Greg and Allison’s relationship - a skiing instructor who had a hard time pronouncing ‘Gregory’. This wine will always conjour fond memories for the Hobbs family.
Sorby Adams 2018 "The Thing" Shiraz - Barossa Valley SA
The Thing is our top of the line Shiraz here at Sorby Adams. Sourced from our Home Vineyard high in the Eden Valley at 475 metres above sea level. Planted by Pastor Franz Julius Lehmann in 1932, the low-yielding, gnarled vines are some of the oldest in the region. Only our best barrels make their way into this classic, cool- climate Shiraz and the 2018 release shows again, why the old-vine fruit of the Eden Valley is so highly sought after.
The Thing is made from fruit grown in low yielding hand pruned Eden Valley and Barossa Valley Shiraz vineyards dating back to the 1930s. Highly awarded, much sought after and limited hand-crafted quantities.

Moss Wood 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon - Margaret River
A spectacular wine from a legendary producer - Moss Wood Cabernet is an Australian wine icon.
Fratelli Alessandria 2008 Barolo Monvigliero - Italy
The 2006 Barolo Monvigliero offers up freshly cut flowers, red berries and mint in a rich style that brilliantly reconciles a generous expression of fruit with a firm, classic sense of structure. There is so much to admire in the Monvigliero today, but readers should really set aside a few bottles in the deepest corner of their cellars. The elegance and pedigree are first-rate. This is another fabulous wine from Alessandria. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2031.
Enzo Boglietti 2006 "Fossati" Barolo - Italy
Enzo Boglietti seems destined to be adorned with epithets such as ‘rock star,’ ‘rising star’ and ‘new wave’, however these monikers tend to distract from the fact that Enzo, his brother Gianni and their father Renato are long-term growers and firm believers that hard work in the vineyard and attention to detail, not fashion, is what makes great wine.
Barolo DOCG
100% Nebbiolo. Touches of bitumen with rose petal, dried orange peel and clove, opens up nicely with light earthy and dried cranberry notes, intense, with really savoury line and good stuffing. The oak has settled in and this is really starting to sing.
